Across the nation, HIV testing has declined significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and those at risk for HIV are no longer seeing their healthcare providers or going to their local clinic to be tested. Several jurisdictions and healthcare organizations are moving quickly to address the decline by launching in-home HIV self-testing programs. Earlier this week, both the CDC and HHS issued guidance recommending the implementation of such campaigns and initiatives as a means to work towards meeting the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) goals.
In response to the CDC guidance, please join us for a webinar entitled “It only takes One - How to launch an HIV self-testing program with limited resources”. We will be joined by Bryan Collins from the Virginia Department of Health, who will discuss home HIV test distribution in Virginia, and how Virginia’s home testing programs have evolved in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we will be discussing how to use oral fluid HIV testing as a safe method for screening during COVID-19. There will be a demonstration video to show how to direct a client through the adapted testing procedure.
